WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, officially launched the 2024 GAC AION Y Plus all-electric crossover model in Malaysia at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 at MAEPS, Serdang. WTCA, the sole distributor of the GAC AION electric vehicles (EVs) brand since January, offers this debut EV in two variants: ‘Elite’ and ‘Premium’, priced at RM119,800 and RM135,800, respectively.

The GAC AION Y Plus is designed to appeal to Malaysian EV buyers by combining trendy SUV elements with high-tech intelligence, making it more than just a car—an ideal companion that showcases the unique character and style of its owner. It is available in seven vibrant exterior colors and five exciting interior options, providing a total of 35 combinations for customers to choose from.

For added peace of mind, WTCA includes a comprehensive warranty and after-sales package. This includes an 8-year/160,000 KM base vehicle warranty and an 8-year/200,000 KM EV battery, Drive Motor, and Electric Control warranty.

To celebrate its launch, WTCA offers an exclusive early bird promotion for the first 200 bookings, which includes a free 7kW Home Wallbox Charger worth RM3,500 and RM1,000 in JomCharge charging credits. This promotion is part of a collaboration with EV Connection Sdn Bhd (EVC), Malaysia’s leading EV charging network provider with over 1,000 chargers nationwide. This partnership enhances charging access and introduces the new Autocharge feature, providing a seamless and premium charging experience for GAC AION Y Plus customers.

Early adopters can also choose from two specially curated accessory packages: the Outdoor Adventure Lifestyle Set, which includes a GAC AION-branded camping set and V2L Cable (for the Premium variant only), and the “Me-Time” Mobile Theatre Set, which transforms the car into an in-car movie theatre.

Deliveries for the Elite variant are set to begin in June 2024, with the Premium variant following in July 2024. This launch marks another milestone for WTCA, following the launch of the GAC GS3 EMZOOM premium compact crossover in April.

The GAC AION Y Plus merges stylish design elements such as Angel Wing LED headlights, Skyline through-type LED taillights, powered stow-away door handles, and a panoramic sunroof across both variants. It features GAC’s innovative 63.2 kWh Magazine Battery 2.0, providing up to 490 KM (NEDC) of driving range. The battery is constructed to be one of the world’s safest, having passed rigorous tests, including a military-grade ballistics test.

Both variants are powered by a front-mounted e-motor rated at 150 kW (204 PS) and 225 NM, offering zippy performance with a 0-100 KM/H acceleration time of 8.5 seconds and four selectable driving modes, including an ‘i-Pedal’ single-pedal driving mode.

Inside, the GAC AION Y Plus offers a spacious cabin with upmarket amenities such as a six-way power-adjustable driver seat, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, keyless entry, automatic climate control with rear vents, and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. The Premium variant adds features like driver seat ventilation, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 32-color ambient lighting suite with music mode.

Safety is a priority, with six airbags, ABS, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), Hill-Hold Control (HHC), a 360-degree View Monitor, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) included as standard. The Premium variant also features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane-Departure Warning, and Traffic Jam Assist.

WTCA has established a network of 21 new showrooms and service centers nationwide to support GAC AION Y Plus customers, with more expected to become operational within the year. This infrastructure aims to provide robust after-sales support and enhance customer confidence in the GAC AION brand.
