The Volvo EX30 finally is here in Malaysia following its official launch with the smallest Volvo car to be priced from RM188,888 with the top of the line be priced at RM228,888. The car made its global debut somewhere in June last year and it has been long anticipated to arrive here as a CBU from China instead of locally assembled.

The base variant for Malaysian model to be fitted with a 69-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) unit for up to 476 km of range following the WLTP standard. The car’s performance is said to be set at 276 PS (around 272 hp or 207 kW) and 343 Nm of Torque which for current EV standards, this is considered acceptable and to be expected. As usual, the top of the range will be boosted to a much bigger power output utilizing motors for the rear and front wheel making the car’s ability to hit 100 km/h in around 3.6 seconds.

Charing up the car will be utilizing it’s on board 11-kW charger with 0-100 percent estimated to take around 8 hours. Fast charging via DC is also supported with a peak wattage at 153 kW which translates to around 28 minutes of charging time for 10 to 80 percent. This should be acceptable for current EV ecosystem with the growing numbers of public charging space around main area in the country.

The Volvo EX30’s design is what we can say as the Swedish’ favored elements of minimalist and futuristic for its approach and this has always been loved by its avid fans around the globe. There are prominent design philosophy being carried over from the brand’s signature of Thor’s hammer daytime running light which is similar to the EX90, a clamshell bonnet and other notable design cues around the wheel arches and taillights.
