The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and Tourism Malaysia, proudly officiates the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD 2025) Flag-Off Ceremony, marking the beginning of an extraordinary 9,000km journey across 9 ASEAN countries in promoting sustainability in mobility.
A landmark initiative, AUD 2025 underscores Malaysia’s leadership in advancing green mobility, cross-border collaboration, and automotive innovation across Southeast Asia. The journey will culminate at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) set to take place from 9th to 15th May 2025 at MAEPS, Serdang.
The flag off took place at Menara MITI, and was officiated by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
“The ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 exemplifies the region’s collective strength in advancing sustainable mobility while reinforcing economic integration and environmental stewardship. Malaysia, through initiatives such as the ASEAN Automotive Institute Alliance, is committed to shaping a unified mobility ecosystem that accelerates innovation, harmonizes standards, and strengthens ASEAN’s position as a global leader in next-generation transportation. This initiative is a crucial step towards a future-ready automotive industry that benefits the entire region,” said YB Senator Tengku Zafrul.

As Malaysia holds the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, AUD 2025 reinforces the country’s role in leading the region’s transition towards green and smart mobility. The Proton e.MAS 7, the official vehicle for AUD 2025, symbolizes Malaysia’s commitment to electric mobility, supporting the national EV agenda and ASEAN’s broader sustainability goals.
The convoy, featuring the Proton e.MAS 7 as the official vehicle, highlights advancements in electric mobility, supporting Malaysia’s national EV agenda and ASEAN’s broader sustainability goals.
The convoy, featuring six Proton e.MAS 7 and four X Series vehicles brought to you by PROTON and PRO-NET will traverse two routes:
- North Route: Starting in Hanoi, Vietnam, passing through Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, before reaching Malaysia.
- South Route: Beginning in Manila, Philippines, traveling through Sabah, Brunei, Sarawak, Indonesia, Singapore, before arriving in Malaysia.
Both convoys will converge at MAS 2025 for the grand officiation, symbolizing ASEAN’s commitment to cross-border connectivity, eco-friendly transportation, and regional economic collaboration.

“The ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 is a testament to MARii’s dedication to fostering regional cooperation in smart and sustainable mobility, aligning with the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP 2020). This initiative harmonizes cross-border EV infrastructure, aligns regulatory frameworks, and fosters investment in sustainable mobility. By building an integrated EV network with standardized policies and incentives, ASEAN is positioning itself as a global leader in EV adoption and innovation, while leveraging its diverse automotive ecosystem to strengthen regional supply chains and economic resilience. “ said Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii.
MAS 2025 is Malaysia premier automotive event, featuring new model launches, cutting-edge EV and ICE technologies, immersive test drive experiences, and key industry networking opportunities. With eight exhibition halls, it will serve as a dynamic hub for business, investment, and policy discussions, strengthening the region’s automotive ecosystem on a global scale.
This year’s edition will also spotlight Women in Automotive, celebrating female pioneers and encouraging greater participation in mobility innovation and leadership. Additionally, the Automotive Career & Education Day will feature a career fair and the ASEAN Automotive Debate, where top regional university teams will engage in thought-provoking discussions on the industry’s future.
Having drawn over 230,000 visitors in its previous edition, MAS 2025 is expected to attract an even larger audience, cementing its status as the definitive automotive event of the year.
The ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 and Malaysia Autoshow 2025 stand as a bold vision for the future of mobility in the region, championing innovation, sustainability, and economic growth as Malaysia leads the way in ASEAN’s automotive evolution.
