Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially unveiled its latest icon, now stepping into the electric era – the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ. Blending heritage with cutting-edge innovation, this new-generation G-Class retains its signature boxy design while introducing advanced electric drive technology for unmatched off-road performance.

Power Meets Precision
The G 580 EQ is Mercedes-Benz’s first mass-produced model to feature a four-motor individual-wheel drive system. Each motor delivers 145HP, combining for a total output of 587HP and a massive 1,164 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h.

This setup not only rivals its traditional combustion-powered siblings but also excels in tough terrains like steep inclines and loose surfaces. Thanks to torque vectoring, the G 580 uses a “virtual differential lock” that automatically adjusts for maximum grip—no manual activation needed.

Electric Range & Charging
Powered by a 116 kWh battery pack protected by a steel ladder frame, the G 580 EQ offers a driving range of 434 to 473 km (WLTP cycle). It supports fast DC charging up to 200 kW, allowing a 10–80% charge in about 32 minutes. AC charging is available up to 11 kW.

Drivers can choose from three charging modes—Standard, Work, and Home—tailored to different locations and schedules.

Off-Road Tech That Stands Out
To elevate the driving experience, Mercedes has packed the G 580 with exclusive off-road features:

• G-TURN – Enables the vehicle to rotate almost on its own axis.
• G-STEERING – Significantly reduces turning radius.
• Off-road Crawl – Like cruise control for rugged terrain.
• Transparent Bonnet – A virtual view under the front hood using a 360° camera.

With a climbing ability of up to 100%, a fording depth of 850 mm, and approach/departure angles of 32°/30.7°, the G 580 EQ continues the G-Class legacy as a true 4×4 legend.

Style & Comfort
On the outside, it keeps the classic G-Class silhouette, enhanced with a Black Panel grille, 20-inch AMG wheels, and MULTIBEAM LED headlights. At the rear, a custom-designed box stores the charging cable or spare tools.

Inside, the cabin is all about luxury—ambient lighting, nappa leather upholstery, Burmester® 3D sound system, and the MBUX infotainment suite with a 12.3-inch display and Augmented Reality Navigation.

Driver assistance features include DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control, Active Steering Assist, and a 360° camera system.

Exclusive Launch Edition
For those seeking something extra special, the limited EDITION ONE variant adds unique touches like blue body stripes, MANUFAKTUR door handles with embossed logos, blue brake calipers, and Silver Pearl/Black nappa leather with blue carbon fiber trim.

Pricing & Availability
The Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ starts at RM958,888, while the EDITION ONE is priced at RM998,888 (inclusive of 10% sales tax, excluding insurance). Both prices include a home wallbox charger installation.
