Subaru’s popular SUV, the Forester, is entering its sixth generation and is now available for pre-order in Malaysia. Motor Image Malaysia has started showcasing the new model at Subaru Petaling Jaya since September 21, and it will be displayed at selected showrooms nationwide starting September 27.

Fresh Yet Familiar Design

First revealed globally in November 2023, the new Forester keeps its familiar shape but adds a bolder and more modern look:

• Larger front grille with black accents
• Split-level headlights and a more sculpted front bumper
• Squared-off wheel arches with black trim
• Black A- and D-pillars for a “floating roof” effect
• New triangular tail lights, replacing the previous C-shaped ones

Built on Subaru’s Latest Platform

The SUV uses the updated Subaru Global Platform, which improves body rigidity by 10%. It’s slightly larger than before:

• Length: 4,656 mm (+31 mm)
• Width: 1,829 mm (+14 mm)
• Height: 1,730 mm (unchanged)
• Wheelbase: 2,670 mm (unchanged)

Interior & Tech

Inside, the dashboard has been redesigned to match Subaru’s newer models:

• A vertically-oriented touchscreen infotainment system
• Integrated climate controls to reduce physical buttons
• Familiar steering wheel and gear knob from the previous model

For Malaysia, the Forester will come with a 2.5L naturally aspirated boxer engine:

• Power: 185 PS (182 hp)
• Torque: 247 Nm
• Transmission: CVT (Lineartronic)
• Drivetrain: All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
• 0–100 km/h: 9.7 seconds
• Top speed: 205 km/h
