TOKYO, Japan – Honda just dropped a bombshell at the Japan Mobility Show 2025: the Super-ONE Prototype, a tiny EV that promises to bring back the ‘fun of driving’ (or keseronokan memandu as we like to say!). This isn’t just another boring electric runabout; Honda is calling it the “e: Dash BOOSTER,” and it’s built to turn your balik kampung drive into a proper syok experience.

Basically, Honda wants this compact EV to be their “one and only” little superstar (hence the name Super-ONE). It’s built on a lightweight platform, similar to their popular N Series small cars, but with a wide, sporty stance thanks to those chunky flared fenders—it looks like a proper little street fighter!

Boost Mode: The EV with a ‘VTEC’ Kick?

The most exciting part is the Boost Mode, a feature specially developed for this pocket rocket.

  • Extra Power: Hit the button, and the power output jumps to give you a sharp, powerful acceleration burst.
  • Fake but Fun: To keep the enthusiasts happy, Boost Mode syncs a simulated 7-speed transmission with an Active Sound Control system. This means you get that satisfying powerful engine sound and sharp gearshift feel right inside the cabin, just like driving a proper sporty manual car. Say goodbye to silent EV drives!
  • Full Sensation: The mode is designed to stimulate all your senses—the sight of the dedicated gauge cluster, the sound of the ‘engine,’ and the tactile feeling of acceleration and ‘gear’ changes.

Think of it as the ultimate blend: the instantaneous torque and clean power of an EV, but with the sensory thrill of an internal combustion engine (ICE) Honda, maybe even a tiny hint of Type R spirit.

Styling & Practicality

The exterior is all about looking dynamic and uplifting, with those wide tires and blister fenders screaming “let’s go for a drive!” Inside, it’s driver-focused with exclusive sports seats that hug you tight, and a clean, horizontal instrument panel to keep your focus on the road.

Honda has been putting this car through its paces globally, even sending its concept version up the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025—that’s a serious statement about its performance ambitions.

Malaysian Hopes?

Honda is planning to launch the production model in Japan starting in 2026, with other regions, including the U.K. and “various Asian countries,” to follow.

With the compact EV segment getting seriously competitive here (we’re looking at you, Proton e.MAS 5 and BYD Dolphin!), the Super-ONE could be a brilliant addition to the Malaysian market, offering a fun, premium, and sporty alternative.

Fingers crossed Honda Malaysia brings this ‘super’ little ‘one-and-only’ EV to our shores!
